Any fans of this great drink? I've been getting more and more interested in whiskey the last 2-3 years so I tend to buy a bottle when I travel. Just got an Auchentoshan Heartwood bottle and it's quite an interesting whiskey. I'm generally not that big on very peaty whiskeys though!

Is there really no one else into whiskey? Just started getting into the standard 16 year old Lagavulin... what an absolute treat it is!

I like the odd drop, but it's not really my favourite tipple... if I drink some, I tend to go for the "peaty" ones...

Yeah me too. Sorry not to have answered earlier, but it's the kind of discussion that'd need me to take my dictionary out and it bores me in advance.

I used to drink lots of spirits, mostly rum and whisky. I like peaty whiskies too, I dislike bourbon and anything too sweet. But now, roughly since I turned 40, I do not stand alcohol so well, it makes me sleepy quite fast... I'm now exploring wines...

Big wine drinker here... unfortunately, when you get older, you tend not to tolerate alcohol very well (as Bapho says)... 2 glasses and I get a stupid headache...

About to turn 30 and I'm still fine, although I do generally only take a very small glass and only one. Whiskey is to savour, not get drunk to. I still don't really like wine though.

Since you guys like peaty stuff, mostly Islay whiskys or...?

I tend to enjoy more strong whisky, between 43° and 46°. Most 40° whiskies are watered-down too much.
Some of the few I like are Connemara, Clynelish and Talisker Skye...

I am a big fan of scottish Single Malts. I enjoy Lagavulin and Talisker most.

You're a good man for the Lagavulin. I absolutely adore the 16 year, but I haven't tried their 8. Talisker was actually my first whiskey, but to this day, I'm really not that fond of it.

I'm not sure if I even want to try the 8 yo. Never seen it in any shop anyways. I simply enjoy the strong taste and I am sort of concerned it wouldn't be that strong if only 8 years old. Good stuff needs time.

I tried a Distillers Edition by Lavagulin once. Gread stuff!

I've never seen the 8 either and I recently learned they have a 12 as well. I'd love to get my hands on different types of Lagavulin.

On my way back from a work trip recently got some Caol Ila Distiller's Edition. It's quite good, although not as flavourful or intense as say Lagavulin or Laphroig.
