I didn't know Stonebirds - funny you mixed the name with the death doom band! :D. The first track is really very goo imo, a well thought-out composition, full of variations and rhythmic twists which sound like a story that does hold together. After that it bores me I must say! A big leap back, with hectic Punk-Rock-sounding drums that seem like they belong to another album. Overall, it's too saturated, not enough elaborated and somewhat clumsy... Until the last song, also quite good even if too systematic ...

Does someone here know Chrome Ghost? The Diving Bell is a sweet melo dark stoner-ish rock album.

Sludge/ Esoteric Malacology

it's a very good album and the only one from this band I appreciate.

New Ison.... Heike left, so different female singers on this one. I don't have an opinion yet. Early days. It seems pleasant enough, but a bit "samey" (as in "not much evolution"...)

Slugdge are also pretty awful to my ear (and have a really stupid name=)

Chrome Ghost actually have an interesting sound, was not aware of them before, definitely worth checking out.

As for ISON, the new album turned better than I expected, and even though the plethora of vocalists featured is impressive, I dearly miss Heike's voice. Still, a nice, enjoyable album=)

That is the reason why I couldn't find them on the Metal Archives.. I thought 'Sludge, Sludge.. where are you??'
And it's indeed so dumb, Slug-dge...

I can't hear much difference between all the various vocalists on the new Ison... I feel they are going a too-safe road after four albums, it'd be a good idea to offer more variations (and inviting 10+ same-souding female singers isn't a variation)

Salvation - Empty Dimension - this is really amateurish funeral doom with some flaws and occasional awful blackish vocals, but the guitar sound is really good and in general it is better than it should be=)

Recent bands I've checked that suck:
Éla, Dola, MDP, Cry of Condemned, Actus Septem, Cultum Interitum, Heavenshore, Exosphere, Llvme

Albums that might not suck:
Locus Amoenus - Wangestalte
Funeral Chasm - Omniversal Existence
Sand Into Glass - Till The End

This band was very special. I have all their albums. I almost had them on board for the MDB tribute compilation: they showed interest, but they already were separating at that time.

hypnotized by this:

I'm really hooked on the track by Mourning Dawn side project SILT:

There two bands make nice, rather primitive doom/ambient, quite pleasant:
