Witch Mountain, along with more traditional old-school acts such as Cold Mourning, are one of the most exciting doom groups to emerge from the American northwest in recent years. Combining vocals that are alternately clean and punk-raw with complex rhythms that verge on mathy without quite crossing the line, 'Come the Mountain' contains more than its share of dynamic riffs. And give a listen to guitarist RobWrong’s lyrics - they’re more than they appear to be at first glance! The album has a selection of both new songs and re-recordings of the tunes on their 1999 EP, 'Homegrown Doom'. 'Rock On/420', with its anthemic chorus seems almost radio-friendly, but the raw vocals and rhythmic change-ups of 'Victim of Chord Changes' show that this band is indeed underground, with little potential for ever showing up in the top 40 of anyone but stoner doom enthusiasts. 'A Power Greater' features the remarkably strong guest vocals of Lost Goat’s Erica Stolz, and the disc ends with 'The Scientists', a song divided into three sub-sections, a format reminiscent of Electric Wizard, the first Black Sabbath, or even the first couple of King Crimson LPs . Good one gentlemen! 'Come the Mountain' stands as a contender for one of the strongest albums of the year for enthusiasts of traditional doom or even stoner rock. Track it down immediately!!	1.
