Well of Souls from Texas, USA must not be confused with the German Well Of Souls. The two bands knowing of each other's existence have no problem using the same name. But who cares about names? Music is what counts here. Well, Brain Ticket has released their debut album so everyone can listen to their perfect melodic, majestic, epic doom metal. Well of Souls have previously released a demo called 'Black Reign' (1999) and this is their debut. The music of the band is a mixture between Solitude Aeturnus, Dawn Of Winter, Candlemass and old Fates Warning. Technical and a little complex, with riffs that change many times during a song, melodic solos and a strong rhythm section, the music of Well Of Souls will satisfy all those who search for good doom metal. John Calvin's vocals are characteristic, strong and melodic and they both emphasise and give the songs of the band identity. If you listen to his voice once then it is very difficult to forget it. Although the vocals will remind you of similar singers in the same vein, they have their own personality, strength and emotion. Well, in a few words this band is a perfect mixture between mourning and majesty. Their music is full of sorrowful but equally epic emotions while at the same time being heavy and 100% doom. |
