The Lust I Seek

Where Shadows Grow Silent (Demo) 2003 None
A relatively new band from Finland, The Lust I Seek play fairly standard doom/death, but they mix it up a little bit with gothic/atmospheric parts. Of course, when I say 'fairly standard', I mean that they pretty much ape the style of the early Peaceville bands... namely, My Dying Bride, and Paradise Lost.

Normally, the seeming lack of originality would be a problem. I don't think we really need yet another clone band... however, The Lust I Seek are clearly talented, as they certainly have a knack for catchy songwriting... and they do break up the death/doom with black metal parts, and gothic parts, which keeps the music interesting.

Overall, it seems like The Lust I Seek are a young band. Throughout most of 'Where Shadows Grow Silent' it is evident that they are still searching for their own sound. I hope they find it, because if they do, it will make them an act to watch out for in the doom scene.
