Tides

From Silence (CD) 2005 Teenage Disco Bloodbath
What a revelation, the new EP from this Boston based band. For anyone who doesn’t know Tides, they play instrumental music in the vein of Neurosis and co. The disk contains three tracks that all together clock in around 20 minutes.

The first track is ‘The Sight’. The song starts with a slow, dreamy, almost ambient melody but as the time progresses it turns into a mid tempo crushing heavy rock song. ‘Unveiled’, the second track, is pretty much in the same vein as the first one. Soon you realize that this was just the warm up for ‘In Their Arms’. This song is not about darkness, despair or madness, it is all of them. It has the ability to imprison you inside its melodic aggression, leaving you helpless to want more, no…to need more.

Simply put, this is one of the best albums I have ever heard; and if you are into Neurosis, Jesu, or Isis this one is must have. No…wrong again - if you are into good music this is a necessity. You can order this gem at http://tdbrecords.com/Tidesbandpage.htm
