Shattered Hope is a new doom/death metal band from Greece. On their debut demo 'A View Of Grief' they deliver doom/death metal inspired by the early-to-mid 90s UK scene. They support their music with keyboards (using synth-violin and piano) and the final result is very interesting.
We can hear songs in slow to mid tempos strengthened with nice piano interludes and keyboard melodies which are the strongest features on this release. Some atmospheric breaks here and there cover the song under a black melancholic musical mist and this is definitely another interesting feature in the music of these newcomers. To tell you the truth I would prefer there to be less mid tempo moments because I believe that when the band drives their music in slower tempos the final result is even more interesting.
In total we have five songs of pure melancholy plus an intro, of which the second song, Vital Lie' is the best. The production is good and clear and the band has done a professional job on the artwork and the lay-out of their demo. Not bad at all. I can assure you that this band will serve us with even better music if they become a little slower and a little more heavy, I am sure that they got both the inspiration and the capabilities to do so. shattered_hope_@hotmail.com
