These doomsters are on a mission, a mission from God to be precise. Being deeply devoted Christians, they do not make it a secret that their music is meant to make you think about religion and convert you to the word of God. So if your still have the mindset of a 12 year old rebelling against mommy and daddy, or if you think that our good old friend Anton LaVey actually wrote an interesting book, you might wish to stop reading here. Everybody else should read on because this is truly an amazing piece of work.

Unlike fellow Christian doomsters Paramaecium who play raw death/doom, Purgation play groovy traditional heavy doom with a Southern feel. They remind me a lot of Solitude Aeternus. Solid riffs with a heavy groove and even thrashy parts are accompanied by lyrics about accepting God in our hearts. This lyrical topic often gets intertwined with Purgation's fascination for George Orwell's novel '1984' and the fear of totalitarian dictatorships.

I only have one real issue with this release and that is the short length. Just when you find yourself emerged into the music, the album is already finished.
