My Silent Wake is an English band that was founded on the remains of Ashen Mortality and includes several members of that band. They play melodic doom/death with a bit of an 'old' sound, like back in the days, so to speak. This first EP is a short effort, only two songs, but it is a good showcase of the My Silent Wake sound. The music is mid-paced, and based on excellent riffing and guitar melodies, overlaid with not-so-deep growls and spoken vocals. The final result isn't very original as we've heard stuff like this being done in the early and mid nineties quite a few times. Nevertheless, My Silent Wake have definitely got their style down, and the guitar work is very convincing, especially on the excellent 'Your cold embrace'. My Silent Wake won't knock you off your socks with this release since it isn't that suprising. But if you can appreciate bands making good music within a relatively old tradition, be sure to keep this name in mind. 'My Silent Wake' is a good debut release, and will appeal to lovers of old-style melodic doom/death. Keep an eye out for the upcoming album!	1. Your cold Embrace 2. Encircle Approx. 17 minutes
