This sound of this power trio from Pittsburg, has been described by their label as 'instrumental acid rock until death does part'. Sounds cool to me, as it is a quite apt description of what to expect from this 'bearded and dirty' band. The production is quite noisy and sounds somewhat 'amateurish', but this actually adds to the spontaneity of their sound. Listening to this instrumental album feels like witnessing a stoner rock gig in a dirty squat, surrounded by Rasta-haired dopesmoking slackers. The band build lengthy instrumental jams upon a secure rhythm section with plenty of guitar solos, energetic drums and noisy feedback including wah-wah sessions. During this work, one gets more and more an unhealthy desire to witness this band performing live, as it sounds like this is what Midnite Snake are about. And there exactly lies the weakness of this album. Their endless jams scream for a live ritual with its endless possibilities, rather than being trapped within the claustrophobic constraints of a CD disc.
