Hailing from Athens, capital of Greece, Litany is another doom metal band worth of your attention. Well for me this band is a real surprise. Being familiar with their work since its early stages and having had the chance to listen to some unofficial live recordings they have done as well, I can for sure point out that I have formed a very specific opinion about their music. In a few words if you still search for something really heavy but still melodic into your doom metal, drop a line to the band and ask for their music. The very special feature that I find into Litany's music is that they manage to create a mournful atmosphere with their music, proving to the audience that the name they have chosen is not just for decoration. Meanwhile they have managed to add the right pieces of aggression into their sound, and not forget that we are always talking about heavy metal and we always need some strong breaks. Am I right? Listening more carefully to their stuff, we will notice guitars heavy as tombstones, an even heavier rhythm section and a very characteristic singer whose voice has something very deep and mournful while he emphasizes even heavier tunes. Like the beauty of the flowers on a tombstone, this voice gives to the song a macabre beautiful touch. This rehearsal demo includes 5 doom hymns. I would point to the songs "Demon's Lament", which I think is one of the best tracks that the band has written, "Solemn" a song with an epic and mournful touch, and of course their mighty eternal, black hymn, "Litany". I would pray to the gods of doom metal to choose this song when they finally decide to drive me into my last place of eternal dust.
