The German band Lamentation play, according to their promo sheet, epic doom/death metal. Judging from the impressive - in length, that is - musical history the members had behind them I expected something of a considerable quality level. Sadly enough, I was severely disappointed.
'Autumngrief' is a collection of decent songs, but the musicianship leaves a great deal to be desired. Especially the drums are very rickety at times. Certainly not what I'd expect of someone releasing a promo. But the main complaint I have about the promo concerns originality. Lamentation copy (dare I say rip off?) Empyrium so much that I'd call it shameful. The melodies, the guitars, the vocals, the keyboards, everything is so reminiscent of the sound on Empyrium's first two albums that I simply can't enjoy this.
I strongly advise the guys from Lamentation to seriously reconsider before continuing in this direction. I don't think this will please anyone.
