Her Name Is Death

Loathsome Christ (CD) 2001 Muchausen Sound
"But, why?" is a question that unfortunately goes often through my mind when I'm listening to pure drone. Since the times that Earth invented and subsequently perfected this particular style of distorted, feedback-induced playing, I have hardly heard any relevant releases, except for a few decent moments in the work of Sunn O))). The banner of drone is held high by some extreme bands that incorporate (among others) drone elements in their insane mix (e.g. Boris, Corrupted, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine).

Unfortunately, Her Name is Death are not going to change my views on this. Their predictable, uncreative chord progressions accompanied by equally unimaginative drums bore me to death rather than mesmerizing my senses. In vain do my ears try to find anything worthwhile to listen to in the midst of endless power chord wanking and irrelevant drum patterns; my mind slips inevitably back to the mystical, warm sound of Earth and I realize that these times are gone for good.
