'Evolution of Revolution' is a compilation of demos from this Illinois trio. First off, the 'Evolution Demos' from 2001. Four tracks of not particulary heavy doomy music with black-ish vocals that have become very trendy through the years. However, the music is quite original, thanks to Scott Myers, Godeatgod singer, bass player and guitarist. Quite a busy guy, huh? The lyrics are quite immature, with lots of 'F' words that simply bothered me. Moving on to the 'Sawblade Demos' from 2000 which offer darker, doomier songs that I enjoyed the most. The guitars are nice and crunchy and the melodies are almost catchy; this set of songs is truly the bright point of the CD. 'The Demo For the Sick' are the oldest set of songs and offer four raw tracks which close this collection of not perticulary interesting demos. I have to say that this CD bored me pretty soon, although I found my head moving in the rhythm of the music a couple of times. Improvement from the oldest demos is obvious, which gives us hope for better things in the future from this young band. |
