Drone with a twist. That's how I would describe the sound of Fulci. While this genre, in its purest form, consists of endless guitar and/or bass feedback, Fulci manage to add extra dimensions to their monolithic mix with the use of strange looping sounds and Gregorian chanting in the first track 'Temple Hammer' and acoustic guitar intro with atmospheric keyboards in 'Scatter my bones to the shore'. The chanting lifts the opening track to a high level of pure musical evil and I regret the fact that it is not used in any of the other four tracks, which move slowly but decidedly closer and closer to pure drone despite some attempts at experimentation here and there.
This is in itself a far from bad release and I would definitely recommend it to fans of the genre. However, I can’t stop thinking that they could have achieved more if the other tracks would match the level of 'Temple Hammer'. Despite this, the fine atmospheric track 'Scatter my bones of the shore' and the tasteful artwork and packaging in a DVD box, should be further incentives to check out this interesting band
