A slow brooding intro starts off this demo like the silence before a storm. And what a storm it is. In the tradition of bands like My Dying Bride (Turn loose the Swans era) we get some great death/doom; heavy riffing, mournful violin and the occasional burst of speed. Especially the first song has that old MDB vibe all over it. The other two songs are slightly more up-tempo, but never really far off either. This is also one of the few bands with a female grunter, something that you would never have guessed if you didn't know. Somehow however this band and release got passed over almost completely. Why this happened, is beyond me as any fan of early 90ties death/doom style should be in ecstasy over this release. Perhaps not the most original ever, but if you can still find this demo pick it up. It really makes me long for the days where MDB just released 'Turn Loose the Swans' and death/doom was on the rise, although my longing doesn't last for an entire forty days. I am not sure if this e-mail address is still valid, but you can try and get some information about the band by e-mailing to: xdaysandcountingx@hotmail.com. |
