The Brazilian metal scene doesn't need an introduction for most metal fans. Bands like Sepultura and Krisiun have risen to immense popularity within their genres putting Brazil on the world map of metal. Also the underground metal activity in Brazil is alive and kicking. While most of the Brazilian doom bands are staying underground and unsigned, some of you might have heard of Mythological Cold towers, although the chance that you have heard of this Eminent Shadow is considerably smaller. However, this band deserves a doomster's attention. Eminent Shadow have -as most Brazilian bands do- a strong heavy metal undertone and most metal freaks would easily hear influences from past heavy and death metal deities in their sound. Although there is no doubt that this band plays doom death in the vein of early Paradise Lost, you can also hear some Autopsy influences in their sound as well as some 'warrior/epic' metal influences as the epic battlefield intro already suggests. Some sporadic acoustic parts and hateful death accelerations make sure that the listener remains focused, but the emphasis is clearly put on the slow and heavy side of things. If you are into old-school doom death and slow death metal in general, Eminent Shadow may be something for you. |
