All the people out there who love bands like Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus should check this great band from Germany. Their debut 7’’ vinyl on Metal Supremacy was a great surprise for me. It includes two tracks of melodic melancholic doom metal with a serious epic touch. The first track is called “Nothing Hurts But Solitude”. Characteristic doom metal riffs, slow to mid tempos, melodic guitar solos and of course the great vocals are most important features of this track. Almost the same could be said about the second track of this release entitled “Shine On Sad Angel”; in addition, this track is much more melancholic and painted in violet and black musical colours. In both tracks the band manages to create a melancholic atmosphere that is given to the listener under a heavy, musical background with an epic touch that gives the tracks a ‘special’ musical personality. I think that the German doom metal scene should be proud of this band as well as of their other doomsters like Mirror Of Deception, Dawn Of Winter etc. Here I must point out that the band will release its debut under the label of Iron Glory records (hail!). The album will be released on June 2004 and it will be entitled ’Thy Kingdom Come’. People out there can get a first taste of the album by visiting www.doomshine.de |

Well it is true that Germany has given us some of the best doom metal bands around. Take for example the great Mirror Of Deception or Dawn Of Winter and I am sure that you will agree with me. Well this is the debut album of the German doomsters that have managed to make our doom metal dreams come true. After this unforgettable 7" inch vinyl from Metal Supremacy records, it is time for their debut. A piece of fine doom metal art, that is what we are talking about when we referring to the stuff of this album. Everyone into Solitude Aeturnus / Candlemass, melodic doom metal should check this out. The album opens with the 'Nothing Hurts but Solitude' track in a little bit different version than the one included in the 7" vinyl, and from the very first second of the track we understand the musical offer of those Germans: melodic, mournful, majestic doom metal at its best. The nine tracks included in this album, create a majestic travel deep in the sorrowful -but meantime strange and beautiful- paths of doom metal. Just listen to the track 'Light A Candle For Me', the third track of the album, which is one of the best doom metal tracks that I have heard lately, and you will understand my point. There is also a musical and lyrical trilogy, a small concept called 'Sad Angel Legend', that is included in the album, divided in three chapters / songs: 'Creation (Chapter Of Hope)', 'Sleep With The Devil (Chapter Of Belief)', 'Shine On Sad Angel (Chapter Of Doom)'. The final chapter / song of this concept is also well known from the debut 7" and the other two are in the same mood of the whole album as well: melodic, melancholic and mournful. There is nothing more left to say. It seems that many good doom metal bands hail from Germany and Doomshine is for sure one of the best. |
