Dead Wish

From The Land Of Forgotten Graves (mCD) 2004 None
I remember being in contact with Ulas Sharper, the sole person behind this band, many years ago. Ulas was a sympathetic Turkish guy who played acoustic guitar and liked My Dying Bride. One day, he told me, he would release a demo with his music.

This time has come now, and Ulas presents us with this short, instrumental work. I expected music in the vein of My Dying Bride myself, but instead I got a work reeking of outstanding renaissance style acoustic guitar work and brilliant prog outbursts with beautiful lead guitar. The work is short and compact and doesn’t bore the listener for a second, despite its lack of vocals.

It is debatable whether this mcd can be considered to be doom, but the question in itself is not relevant. If you are into progressive metal or even if you can imagine a 'faster' and less mournful version of Funeral ('Tragedies' era), then this is for you.
