| Nymphea Aurora - Never comes silence promo-2008 (2008) |
Since their previous release, 'Misery...', Nymphea Aurora has left behind most of their keyboard use as well as their most obvious Peaceville Three influences. As they did, the band instead took a turn for the mournful darkness rather than the weeping. The growls have deepened and meaty death metal chugging have found its way into the music. There's even a black metal outburst in 'Clouded Eyes'. Nymphea Aurora are still very much themselves, as can be heard in the re-recording of 'A Touch Of An Angel' (from 'Misery...'). What is different is that the band sound like they've progressed into something they feel more at home with.
Since this release is a promo and all one would assume that it wouldn't be that readily available to the general public. However, you can get hold of it from the bands MySpace page for $4. Or, maybe even better for those with a slim economy, you can also download the promo from their last.fm page. On the unfortunate side, when this review is being written (autumn 2009) this is all that you get from the "new" Nymphae Aurora. The word 'promo' usually means that you're looking for a label, but no one seem to have picked them up yet. However, their new sound might make them more attractive on the label marked than before but until a new release comes along, two new songs and a reworked one is what you'll get. |
