Isole : Forevermore

Isole were formerly known to the underground doom scene as Forlorn (they changed their name in 2000), a band that began their journey in the world of epic doom metal in 1990. Being such a long-lived act they have composed many songs which mainly feature on a row of demo tapes ('Tired' Demo 1991, 'Vivere non Necesse Est' Demo 1992, 'Waves of Sorrow' Demo 1994, 'Promo 1995', 'Promo 1996', 'Autumn Leaves' Promo 2001 and 'Promo 2004'). So many years in action but their debut album was always postponed, mainly due to the members' participation in other bands, such as Windwalker, Withered Beauty, Februari 93, Ereb Altor, etc.

It seems that the long wait has ended because the debut album of Isole on I Hate Records is a reality. The album entitled 'Forevermore' contains seven epic, beautiful songs. The songs are: 'The watcher', 'Deciever', 'Age of darkness', 'Forevermore', 'Premonitions', 'Beyond the Black' and 'Moonstone'. You may wonder why I point out the whole tracklist in here. Well, it is too difficult to choose a specific, characteristic song from this magnificent debut and place it as an example for all those that read this review. This album is an absolute must for all the fans of epic doom metal. Like every piece of art in this elite metal genre – take as serious examples the albums of Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, While Heaven Wept and Solstice - this album is made to last forevermore!

Melodic, heavy and dramatic, the doom metal of this Swedish act will satisfy all those who search for a new doom metal experience. Daniel Bryntse on drums & voice, Crister Ohlsson on guitars and Henrik Lindenmo on bass have managed to create something very special. By the way, when was the last time that you heard a drummer to have such a brilliant voice?

All songs were immortalised at The Overlook Studio in Gävle, Sweden in the autumn/early winter of 2004 and mastered at Endarker Studios, Norrköping and the final result, as far the production is concerned, is great.

Well, all those that were in touch with the music of Forlorn/Isole throughout the years know that the wait was worth it with this album. All the rest of you epic doomsters should better hurry up and grab a copy of this debut. You will never regret it.
