Dream Death : Journey Into Mystery

Dream Death is a predecessor to Penance. Inspired by bands like Candlemass, old Angel Witch, 'Sabbath, Trouble, The Obsessed and Witchfinder General they formed their own band and made this album.

This CD has doom mixed with eighties thrash/death metal. Eight crushing songs ranging from slow to fast/mid tempo. The vocals on this record always reminded me of Tom Araya ('Hell Awaits' period), which isn't meant to be negative. There are quite a lot of tempo changes, but unfortunately there isn't much variation between the songs themselves. And that's my only criticism I have with this CD.

If you grew up, like I did, with 80's metal, you might like this.
