Dis Pater : The Princess Of The Emerald Garden

This full-length is the only free download album that I've encountered which lasts for over and hour. If you like romantic gothic/doom then go to their website (here) and download the entire album. Note that its approximately 136 MB in size. When that is done you may continue reading.

Depressing, romantic and beautiful. These are the words that best fit the aura of Dis Pater. To achieve this they have gone easy on the doom elements, so even if the band is in the bandlist, not all would call it doom. But that's rather unimportant really. Most fans of slow and romantic gothic metal would still enjoy it.

The lyrics are poetic in a classic way, sometimes almost theatrical. From deity like tales to beauty and the beast stories, to love... All the main romantic gothic lyrical themes are represented. The powerful voice of Rodion, the vocalist, portrays them perfectly in both clear vocals and grunts. Definitely one of the most impressive male vocalists that I've encountered this year.

Music for tearful moments is what I would describe this as. The calmly sorrowful feeling that the music portrays has its way to reach out and sneak you into its mood. Gothic/doom fans, do yourselves a favour and allow the soft violins, the pianos and the harmonic woe of Dis Pater to take you into a beautiful heartbroken world.
