Asteroid : Asteroid

Asteroid are all about a short, sharp, smack to the back of your head, the better to hurl your thoughts out to the cosmos and back, all in about 20 minutes. They play a memorable riff-heavy mix of space and desert rawkin', leavened with tasty dark atmospheres. They do it like only the Swedes seem do it these days, with a foundation of remarkably mature songwriting, Kyuss-like distortion, 'Sabbathy heaviness, and sweet, clean vocals. Asteroid ride the spaceways in one of Charley Manson's dune buggies, and fuzz worshipers should be grateful.

It's worth noting that they've got a split coming up with Blowback on the excellent Fuzzorama label, home of the tasty Truckfighters split. Incidentally, Oz from the Truckfighters is recording it, and for those of us who've left at least a bit of their heart in 1999, that's good news indeed. And for you cheapskates, you can download this Asteroid disc in it's entirety off of their website, so get crackin'!
