High Priest of Saturn : High Priest of Saturn

High Priest Of Saturn's first demo displays some outstanding Stoner Doom.

Sometimes when you search blindly in mail orders and websites like Bandcamp usually you find bands that make you feel the need to pour molten lead in your ears but also you can find a hidden treasure that gives you hope for the future. These newcomers from Trondheim belong to the second category and they gift us with a truly rare and rewarding treasure.

The demo their first contains two songs filled with long, primitive riffs and ethereal Hensley-like organ sound that fills and completes their sound. However the biggest surprise came with the vocals: their singer is simply amazing. She manages to stand out among the competition in a period in which female-fronted doom bands come from every direction. Her chanting style singing, together with the organ melodies, create an atmosphere similar to that of soundtracks of films by Bava, Argento and Fulci (the last one before the zombies).

This little demo found its way to my mp3 player and its not going to leave it for a long, long time. If they keep producing records like this one, their future is going to be bright and I recommend them to anyone that likes old school traditional doom in the vein of The Flight Of Sleipnir, Jex Thoth and Pagan Altar. You can get their demo by searching for their page on http://www.bandcamp.com.
