Weluvpot : Sloth/Weluvpot Split

Not one of Sloth's doom metal releases nor one of their better.

Album CoverAlbum Cover

This is one of Sloth's most numerous releases, counting a whole 300 copies. Unfortunately, this does not mean that this is one of their better output. Their three tracks contain little of interest; each of which sound to me like bland songs of a kind where there already exist more memorable ones. More precisely, I don't find the almost noise-less noisecore that is found here, to have anywhere near the entertainment value (i.e. the silly wanking) which was present on releases such as the splits with Servants of Satan, Netjajev SS, and Nunslaughter. Then again, perhaps that statement misses the point? Chris Gilles seems to have been a friend of a friend and the text they put on the cover seems to dedicate this split to him, in a way: "i did not know Chris Giller, yet i felt sadness when i received information that he died." On the other hand, the tracks aren't sad either.

I suspect that this has to be one of Weluvpot's most numerous releases, too, but I'm not completely certain. What I know is that they play what they call 'shitart', which means that they make some poorly, poorly recorded grindcore-ish stuff on acoustic guitar and diverse drum substitutes. (The most used drum substitute is a big cooler, but apparently they've drummed on "all kinds of crap" too.) Surprisingly this racket isn't half bad! At least they're no worse than most of the bigger grindcore names, and they've even managed to make one really awesome track: 'Vagina sonatta'. It's hilarious!

I have no idea what kind of grindcore fan would like this, but I'm guessing the same kind who also enjoy Schnauzer and Hangnail. As for the doom fans, this release is not for you.
