Mistress of the Dead : Cryptic

'Cryptic' can best be described as 'Buried''s sinister twin. It is almost identical to 'Buried' in every way, except for being shrouded in more darkness than its predecessor. It is as if the despair and regret found in the burial of 'Buried', has turned into the workings of some dark force; as if something malevolently occult has been cited onto it.

The difference in the description of the music, is minuscule. This still has very much a 'Last Tape Before Doomsday'-feeling. If I had to point out something new then I'd claim that there is also a dark presence of something 'Stormcrowfleet' or 'Lead and Eather'.

Since the two demos are so alike it's almost pointless to buy both. The re-releases by Epidemie Records are cheap so you may still want to, but if I had to choose between the two then I'd say that 'Cryptic' is just slightly better than 'Buried'. I guess Vales thought the same since he put a (mislabeled) track from this demo onto his self-titled compilation tape.
