A project by Matt Zuchowski. Very slow droning music in the vein of bands like early Earth and Pelican. More atmospheric however, with less focus ...

Sloth (US) : Schnauzer/Sloth Split

Album CoverAlbum Cover

This split is basically the journey of two nutcase bands. And then I'm not just saying that they are wacky. I'm saying that they are completely fucking nuts! For instance, look at Schnauzer's cover art! It's not really that it says "Oh YEAH! JUST LOVE THAT SCHNAUZER 10"." that's so disturbing. It's the fact that this text is placed in a thinking bubble. And that thought is thought by a woman on all four with a schnauzer mounting her...

Schnauzer seems to really enjoy making some sort of sound theater with almost constant cursing. It's kind of hard to believe but they yell and scream even more than they have curse. The raw, humpety-bumpety riffage just makes it even more silly. And the type of humor found herein? Let's take the image on their side of the 10" as an example: Once again it's a schnauzer, but this time you only see the rear end and the "brown eye" is the hole in the center of the record. Next to this you'll find the text, "A lubricated stubby rectal thermometer is gently inserted into your schnauzer's rectum as you restrain your dog's tail." I wouldn't be surprised to find that most people would hesitate to play the 10" with that side up due to the vivid images that creates.

You'd think that Sloth would finally have met a match in sillyness, but no. This has to be one of the most hilarious things they have ever made. Of course you'd have to like this kind of humor. The music, if you can call it that, is mainly some riffing, some synth stuff, some silly singing, and some other oddities. In other words, if you don't appreciate their humor, then this is almost certainly something you won't like.

Sloth's last track has to have the longest title ever made. It contains no less than 271 letters (including the spaces). However, they must have used much more time on making the name than on making the track. It lasts no more than 4 seconds total and sounds like an aggressive burp.

To summarize: This is not a doom release in any way. It's just a bunch of maniacs doing stuff that would make most people go insane. Only recommended if you actually do enjoy the humor indicated above.
