Sloth (US) : Trick Or Treat Time With Octi

'Trick Or Treat Time With Octi' is a first for Sloth in the sense that they have never released a demo on CDr before. This release follows the bands tradition of making releases that are no longer than a normal 7" in length and are made in no more than a hundred copies. To show the uniqueness of each copy they have been signed and authenticated by hand.

The tracks vary in length between the 25 second long 'Remix' and the track 'Diversity Does Not = Monopoly' which clocks in at slightly above two minutes. Each track is mainly noisecore with a possible hint of sludge. But with the exception of 'Cannibalize Cannibal Eyes', the demo contains no doom metal. The music is simple, consisting of only drums, bass, distortion and some half choked vocals. While it has it's disturbing moments and a few strange noises, it doesn't go all out into a mindless chaos. The lyrics adhere to the standard pissy attidude or silly weirdness that one expect from a Sloth release.

This CD demo isn't very long, nor is it special in comparison to many of the other CDr's that were subsequently released by the band. However, amongst these demo's it seems to be one of the easiest to get hold of as it used to pop up every other month on eBay. As with many of their rarer releases it's a collectors item, and if you buy it you additionally get a happy, trick-or-treating octopus on the front. Yay!
