Rain Fell Within : Refuge

Take a big dose of keyboards, add some up-tempo melodies and mix it all with female vocals. What you are left with is yet another Gothic-metal, or perhaps more justly named "Fairytale-metal", band like Rain Fell Within. A few fans of the band had assured me that Rain Fell Within is not like the others… well boy and girls, all I hear is yet another run of the mill act. I don't exactly spot how Rain Fell Within is so different from their fellow Fairytale kinsmen and "kins-front-women".

Perhaps I am simply not the best person to review music like this? Because, don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong this band or this release. In fact it is very enjoyable music, the tempo is mostly kept high plus the dynamic song writing and bombastic production assure that this is easy listening all the way through.

Of course they don't sound 100% like all the other fairytale-metal bands. I can spot some slight differences here and there. But what it all boils down to at the end of the day, is that this is just another band playing the same-old, same-old music.

This is great music for people who are into lighter and more bombastic metal or those who think everything with female vocals is melancholic. I also think this would do great at a club or bar. But for me it will never go beyond being enjoyable background music, sorry...
