Flegethon : Behind a side of times

Flegethon belongs to another dimension...

Imagine that you are the hero of a horror short story. One day you leave your house and walk straight ahead. At some point, beyond barren lands, burned forests and rivers of mud, you will reach the edge of the world… this is bound to happen. Then, you will have to make your presence known to the dark void before you… and Flegethon will answer you.
I was familiar with Until Death Overtakes Me and his brothers in pain Solicide, The Ethereal, Beyond Black Void and Celestiial. I thought I had drained the subject and heard all the above-mentioned void had to say. Not at all my friends! Behind these first cohorts hide other entities. Flegethon is one of them.
This one-man band belongs to another dimension, the one summoned by the feverish visions of Lovecraft. The Doom scene will never be grateful enough for the spiritual nourishment that the author has offered it. Glory be to him! Glory be to his worshippers! Glory be to us, glory be to me who is trying to write what might not look like a review from nearly nothing. For Flegethon does not make my task easy and yet, and I hope it is understood, I think the band's music is truly excellent!

But really, there isn't a lot happening between hammering drum, trisomic guitar playing, prehistorical grunting, and one-finger keyboard tinkling. Flegethon dwells deep into the melodic asceticism specific to the genre it stands for and yet, when the music gets corrupted by some evil sounds, industrial stutterings, subterranean creakings, harsh blows and even ethereal female choirs (a burst of light in the dark magma), well, damn! You realize that with three primary colors Cranach painted the existential pain on the face of Christ; with a claimed dryness, Flegethon paints the extreme desolation, the edge of the world.
Flegethon is an artist that is supported since the start by the small Russian label Satanarsa Records. To both of them, I take my hat off!
