The Revival : Exhibition Of Thoughts

The Revival was formed in 2005, originally as a metal band, in Finland. 'Exhibition of Thoughts', their third demo, follows their first two demos 'World Through The Black Veil' and 'Silent Tomorrow'. Technically well recorded, the music has developed into a well-balanced mixture of death and doom. The songwriting shows maturity, albeit a touch more individuality wouldn’t go amiss. But we are sure this will come with time. Vocally, clean singing and deep grunts alternate seamlessly, integrating smoothly with the well-executed guitar parts. All four songs are sufficiently varied and professionally performed, but it’s the last track, 'All Dead' – in the vein of their compatriots Swallow The Sun – that shines. If you are into melodic doom/death, 'Exhibition of Thoughts' is recommended. Clocking at only 15 min., it leaves you wanting more, but at least the music doesn’t get excessively diluted. We look forward to The Revival's first proper opus. The promise is there...
