Autumnal : Grey Universe

Im a fan of both My Dying Bride and Anathema. I believe that they brought new life to a genre that is not known for being really open-minded or obsessed by the will to progress. I can only respect them and these Spaniards seem to share my opinion. This is the first time I had the chance to listen to Autumnal and my impression is that the music is strong, intense, and passionate.

Clearly, this is the work of a band who is well-established in the scene; but Autumnal sounds too much like My Dying Bride, which kills the effect of this otherwise perfect album. Dont get me wrong: the album is flawless, and certainly one of the best I have heard in quite some time. However, I would only recommend it to die-hard fans of the Peaceville Three.
