Outremer : Outremer

This band hails from Sweden with an often heard, albeit sympathetic brand of groovedoom. Ola’s screamy, brutal vocals dominate the groove-laden, uplifting compositions and even add an energetic, Motörhead-like feel. Powerful stoner riffs come and go in the familiar 'Sabbath tradition while a hyperkinetic rhythm section underlies the uptempo songs. The good production helps as well as it provides the songs with the necessary punch and heaviness.

The experienced band members clearly know well how to handle their instruments and how to set the mood for some groovy songs. I could complain that they don’t make original music, but I guess that wasn’t the point from the beginning on: Outremer are clearly mostly interested in having fun creating music similar to that of their favourite bands, and I guess they succeed in this pretty well.

Not much needs to be added to this review, if you are a fan of stoner doom you should hear the call right now. You can contact the band at either ola.malmstrom@swipnet.se or outremer7@hotmail.com.
