Nymphea Aurora : Misery...

This band have already recorded and released a promo, 'Promo 2005', under their current name of Nymphea Aurora. However this was not for sale, but solely sent out for promotion. This is the first release in the band's current guise that's available for the general doomster public.

The music is easily categorised as mid paced melodic doom/death with symphonic elements. The riffing is very dark, giving the vocals and symphonic elements plenty of room. The vocals especially are very up-front. There might be some that find them to be too pronounced in a few of the tracks. Others might find that this fits their dominating nature. In any case they are at least dark enough to fit the aura of the music.

The lyrics are mostly melancolic and utterly negative. This is perhaps not always a good match with the slightly agressive sound. However the main man behind the band, André de Heus, has stated that the music reflects his feelings. Of course no one can deny that feelings can manifest themselves in just about any fashion. Hence it's likely that others will feel the same way and find that, at least in their ears, the lyrics will fit perfectly.

The music is very similar to Ningizzia in many ways and one of the bands might appeal to those who like the other. It's also true for both bands that the music needs quite some spins before one can fully appreciate them.
