My Lament : Beneath The Hidden

My Lament is a band from Belgium that started in late 2004. They've spent the time since then gigging and working on 'Beneath The Hidden', their first demo.

These guys (and now one girl, as well) play melodic death/doom in the well known vein. The emphasis is on heavy riffing with lead guitars and growls. There are some clean vocals as well, and synth, which are quite low in the mix. The opener, 'Vilest of Men' is very good with some very catchy and heavy themes. The other two tracks are OK, except for the clean vocals, which need improvement.

This demo won't win any originality awards, but it has a very good sound quality, excellent playing overall, and a pro layout. With some more work, My Lament is certainly promising. This demo will be worth checking out for die hard fans of 90s-style death/doom.
