I don't think there is a perfect album , not in funeral doom or any other genre. There are alot of great albums but I can find an album by UDOM to be near perfect while someone else can find it extremely boring. _________________ Funeral Dance |

For me Tides Of Awakening is a close to perfection funeral doom album. It's hypnotic, narcotic, dronish, heavy, soul-crushing.
I also consider Celaenus Fragments by Fungoid Stream to be rather perfect on its unique way, with the programmed instruments and all. |

Jej, we are all aware of this. We're all also aware that "perfection" cannot exist. We're all also aware we're all wrong and all right at the same time. This could go on forever. Most people just let it slide though on the basis that if we all did this every time there was a thread, there would be no threads, no posts, and no forums, so grab an opinion and stick to it kidda _________________ www.hyperblastmetal.com

Ahab - "Call Of The Wretched Sea"
This album keeps me interested a 100% everytime I listen to it. It's crushingly heavy , beautifull and depressing.

Now, let's all hang ourselves while being drowned into the sea listening to Ahab to start 2008 on a good Funeral Doom pace _________________ Doom-Metal reviewer at

In my humble opinion i would pick these two as well. Skepticism have some of my favorite songs, but i think their albums aren't so homogeneous as these two. _________________ Bubonic Productions

| I have to agree with you there about Skepticism, as much as I do like them and they've done some great songs, I've never been able to regularly play their albums. |

That is because the Doom of Skepticism can only be let loose to play with your brain in the right alignment of the moons and planets of distant cosmos.
or, the right mood... |

Moss - Cthonic Rites (though not really funeral)
Wijlen Wij - Wijlen Wij
UDOM - both Deep Dark Reds and Prelude to Monolith
Solicide - Untergang des Abendlandes

The just released first album from finnish Colosseum is strongly becoming one of those pieces I cannot take out of my player...Impressive and massive, Funeral Doom of the highest quality, if you ask me. _________________ Doom-Metal reviewer at

The diSEMBOWELMENT double/triple CD doesn't have a name
Back to the subject of Dooom, after another listen, I found I enjoyed the album a lot more when I opened up the vinyl (I cannot stress how cool the vinyl artwork is) and read the lyrics/story along with the music. I thought that it was fantastically written and works really well with the music. I still prefer Last CD Before Doomsday thought, but I'm gaining more appreciation of Dooom. |
