I missed a topic like this. There are alot of persons who post they're own topic and describes some kind of Doom they are looking for, but I wanted a more general thread that didn't have any bounderies or limitations.

Here you can tip of different doom metal bands that you don't think anyone else as heard or just because you really like them and want to share it with others.


I am in a period where I search for epic doom metal bands. I have found some that I don't think so many has heard but I'm not sure.

These ones really have a high and old-feeling standard on their music! Love it!

Also two other under-appreciated bands to check out to be Ysigim (Polish Funeral Doom - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1fmBcmi ... =1&index=1 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zWgLEoV ... re=related) and Sadness (Swiss unique doom - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAGzXXcK ... re=related).

i have to mention a band from portland, i think, called HELL. don't let this cheesy name put you off, as far as i know, they have only released one full length tape of their album on woodsmoke. this tape fucking smokes. it's good, very heavy, this band has a very distinctive sound in their riffs. the tape is long sold out alas and i pray that they will re release this tape in other formats so that others can enjoy this amazing band.

i want to mention also PROFETUS. some know about this finnish band. look this band up on the internet. you know the deal.

also, please, have a listen to PUSSYGUTT, yes, the names is kinda cheesy again, but they are fucking amazing. there is an off shoot band called ALTER by one of the band members. PUSSYGUTT is more of an atmospheric drone band but please don't be misled by the use of the word drone. this band uses the cello for certain parts of their songs, at times their stuff is pretty much ambient like. ALTER is very good too, this band reminds of EARTH's HEX LP but even more minimal, just very quiet ambient stuff. if you do a search for PUSSYGUTT you will find out also about ALTER. they have some lps out for sale, very affordable, lovingly silk screened album art.

GRIFTEGARD must be mentioned too here. the same for the HOODED MENACE.

more people need to hear womb, the classic two bass no guitar death doom band from craig pillard of methadrone and incantation. I saw them live and it was fucking nasty.

PussyGutt and Alter aren't really doom, or am I wrong? Still I loved their music. A bit dark classical/ambient music, precise my taste!

Haha! Cool band, heavy music! They must have credits for using a contrabass instead of an electric. And the singer had a cool outfit.

you're right, i would not called them doom. at times they are ambient/drone like. hate these labels but it's what people know.

check out a japanese band called CORRUPTED.



there is this band called RIDE FOR REVENGE, it's strange, most label them as black metal but they are not even close to that genre. their imagery is very black metallish but they are very slow, they also use just two basses. i just found out about them and i love them.

U must check out Nightly Gale. Their demos have very good music as and their full length. Their 1st 2 demos are doom metal, 3d demo and 1st album is black/doom. 2nd album is more doom metal but still uses some black metal vocals and 3d album sounds more like atmospheric doom.
