Re: To what listenest thou?
Nice America sludgy progressive metal from Indiana... a bit shouty in places...
There are only 3 tracks, really, because the other 3 are instrumental versions of the same tracks.

It's not Doom...
Re: To what listenest thou?
Monotonous mournful Funeral doom, faithful to the classic "bedroom" recipe. UDOM style.

Jaw-dropping heavy sludgy FD, Gravkväde keep digging lower in subterranean grounds:

The new album by Shades of Deep Waters has been out for a few days. It's good!
And there was last year a new release from Frowning as well:

Re: To what listenest thou?
I've been listening to the new Shades of Deep Waters quite a lot since it came out and I love it. It's one of the most despairing albums he's released. Especially the title track is superb and comes close to The March and the Stream (Lead and Aether version) in terms of resignation portraited via simple riffs. With the music becoming slower and sadder than usual, the harsh vocals are even more striking, maybe that's why the title track stands out - nothing breaks it from the melancholy.
Re: To what listenest thou?
There are some quite wonderful recommendations given previously.
The new Frowning is amazing as always. I really like the intention of going for a bit more romantic but heavier sound. The only thing I am missing are more engaging melodies, but it's superb even as it is.
I agree that Gravkväde are getting better and better - they still have the occasional fast outburst but are slower and bleaker than before. And they still use sound bits from Bergman's movies which is simply fantastic.
Of these I had only listened to Weeping Sores previously and like them a lot, despite the ugliest cover art that they could possibly use. Nothing outstanding, but great for occasional listening=)
I still have some more to check=))

Re: To what listenest thou?
UDOM released a new album with various tracks released these last few years. They do sound quite different with the first one even being a bit energetic and dare I saw optimistic. So far I find Other Days the most fascinating, with its almost classical feel, but I need to listen more=)

A lof of UDOM lately, mostly very early stuff and the latest releases.
Asofy - Svanire. A new EP by the band, quite pleasant with gorgeous organic sound. It's totally abstract, more like cozy atmosphere but done so masterfully. It reminds me of Passo Uno - Presenze (btw why did the review here disappear?)
Boris - Fade. I stopped following what the band released many years ago, but this is amazing drone, some of the best music they've done!

i've been spinning the new UDOM for a couple of days. I really like it, I like his consistency and the simplicity of the concept which makes its uncomparable strength.

New Isole is out, apparently... much more mellow, judging by this... but I do like the track.

Very nice Gothic doom, bit too mellow maybe. The female voice is quite bland. the rest, very good.

Performance video of the new track 'The Calling' as the first single taken from Saturnus' forthcoming album "The Storm Within "

Re: To what listenest thou?
This is thrilling to see them back; the song is really good imo. With a new prog touch, mellow and comfy, all what an aging fan needs!
This must be the longest gap between two albums in Metal history...!

I like the prog leanings in the middle bit (and that's not surprising), but I found the actual opening melody a tad "soft"... but I look forward to the album...

I've never really gotten into Isole, not sure why, but this track is actually quite amazing. I'm not as fond of the whole album though unfortunately, but with this song they've struck the right chord with me!
The Saturnus track on the other hand is quite awful, I never liked their way cheesy sound, though admittedly pleasant (I am not against cheesy in general=)

I agree with you about Isole... some songs are indeed amazing and blow you away, but then they turn into mediocre doom-merchants (a bit like me...klamerin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:31 am I've never really gotten into Isole, not sure why, but this track is actually quite amazing.
