Female Funeral

Post by firebird »

If this question had already been asked once I am sorry, but does anyone know female-fronted Funeral Doom bands? Female-fronted Doom is not very difficult to find and has already been asked for recently. Is there nonetheless any band to be mentioned?

Here are some albums you may like. Some of these have both clean and harsh vocals, whereas a few of these are entirely clean sung by women.

Aeonian Sorrow - Into the Eternity a Moment We Are
Funeral - Tragedies
Fvnerals - Wounds
Murkrat - Drudging the Mire
Skumring - De glemte Tider
The Slow Death - Ark
Vouna - Atropos

Yes, I gave in, but not again.

Begräbnis - not that you'd notice it during listening but they are female-fronted and their last album is magnificent.

Believe in Nothing - a short-lived and obscure one-woman funeral doom project - very, very nice raw stuff (though a bit amateurish) - as raw as Worship with ghostly fragile vocals

Consummatum Est - you can probably call them female-fronted as the guitars and vocals are done by a woman.

Not sure if we can count Herodias/Cult of Herodias - speed wise it definitely fits the bill, though it is a bit too light to be pure funeral doom.

Undersmile are more of a sludge/drone, though as slow as can be. But if we go down that road, we'd need to include Monarch and Bloody Panda probably. And ShEver?, nope that's too far.

Could you by any chance upload those two albums somewhere? I cant' find the Begräbnis on Bc; and BIN is just available in parts on YT... Would be great, cheers!

Definitely check out Omit as well. Same singer as Skumring.

Thank you for your effords!

Where is OMIT to find, or BIN? Begräbnis, by the way, is to listen to on their homepage (but downloadable?)
Cult of Herodias and ShEver are VERY interesting!

Could Abysscvlt be called “female” somehow, or did I mislisten?

Omit are a rather famous band I believe, should probably be available on youtube at least and the streaming platforms.

As for Believe in Nothing, they are rather obscure, I got their tracks from back in the days when artists shared them in places like mp3.com and the like. Now I guess it would be found only via P2P programs.

Not sure if Abysskvlt can be defined as female but are definitely worth listening for sure=)
