Another great, extensive review! I tend to agree with many of the points you're making (though I do enjoy the feadóg). So far the album hasn't clicked with me quite as intuitively as its predecessors, though admittedly I haven't been in the perfect mindset to fully savour it, so I'll definitely return to it and try to dive in deeper.

Autumn tells me I'm the first person to have complained about 'The Forest...', so maybe it really is just me! I had more than my fill of shrill pennywhistle-type instruments during my teens, over the years I was going out with a girl who was in a local folk band. It did leave me with quite a fondness for Celtic-style folk...just as long as they stuck to strings and percussion
