I've seen them a few times because they are from Bradford. They are good, but they don't really fit to me. Some decent pedigree in the band, Solstice, Lazarus Blackstar (played with them back in the day), Khang.

Lucky you to be sorrounded by tons of good bands (geographically). I bought the album of Monolith Cult. Really catchy stuff that got me hooked from the beginning.

Have you ever been to Bradford?
I moved out last month. Can't say I am sad about that.
Well, it IS formerly a bit of a hotbed for bands. Paradise Lost (Halifax) and My Dying Bride (Dewsbury) are both within 10 miles. And a lot of goth bands before that. But Bradford really is the almighty shithole of this area.

That's what I meant to say.

So that was what Trump was talking about last week. Understood. Sorry for you.

Re: The General Recommendation Thread
Here's a neat little Italian group that seem to be paying their tribute to Funeral's 'Tragedies' album, even utilizing the classical guitar lines and female vocals. I'll admit though that the female vocals could've been featured just a little bit more frequently, and the sound production leaves a bit to be desired. Other than that, I quite enjoy it.

I didn't know that band, super vintage, a bit too much stuck in tribute mode, but nice, it'll help me wait for the next Count Raven.

It is a relatively new band, with two works released. He has Patrik Winberg, ex-DoomDogs, and Tom Sutton, ex-Church of Misery. Really a great project.
Yeah, Count Raven's next album will be great, the first with Samuel Cornelsen, who also plays Goatess (another big band).

Yes, Goatess is very much like a stoner-ish version of Count Raven, not bad, but not still quite the same level.
I recommend the Magma Rise 2016 Ep, a rather short album packed with catchy songs:

I did not know Magma Rise. Sounds good, thank you for indication. It's always good find new trad doom bands.

Re: The General Recommendation Thread
I'm enjoying a peculiar tone of guitar that is used in both these songs. Is it played with a bottleneck? I don't really know but it has a cool, moaning, exotic vibe that is rather atypical in Metal and in Doom in particular. Would you have any other rec in this direction?
(starting at 2', mostly - the clip is from an excellent film btw, Shame)

Re: The General Recommendation Thread
This sound can be obtained by using a slide ring, by moving the volume controls or by using a specific pedal for this purpose. I remember that Lacrimosa used this feature a lot in the first discs, but I do not remember any specific music.

New Faal is out: quite nice, though a bit unspectacular, I still prefer the debut:

Re: The General Recommendation Thread
One of my favourite death/doom demos is now on bandcamp. Pity the band has done anything new since then=/
