Sorry to hear that. Things here were looking far more optimistic at the beginning of the year than they do now. I'm just broke all the time, no matter what I do.

By any standards it's certainly not a pleasant situation to be chronically broke, not to mention the pressure that comes with it. Perhaps the chances to find a more efficient job are better someplace else?

^ Yeah, if I move to the moon. Changes of me getting a decent job are virtually non-existent in this part of Europe.

Oh, but what I really wanted to complain about here is my boyfriend's shitty taste in music. He just never likes my music, never.

Look on the bright side, at least he won't want half your CD collection if you ever split up :)

ah, ah, brilliant! When we - me and my brother - moved out we had to split the record collection... the most painful thing ever!

you bought your albums together? That's weird! My brother has a vastly different taste in music than me. I wouldn't want any of his stuff, and reciprocally.

yes, we had the same taste! But we are only one year apart, so I don't think it's that unusual... apart from his Barry White tapes, obviously... :D

But I remember being in a similar situation ages ago, and it can be frustrating, especially if you can never share your impressions about something that is so important to you. However, my former would-be-fiancé has a rather good taste, despite the fact that her best friend plays in Apocalyptica. :D We had some good times listening to "The Pernicious Enigma" back then... :sarcasm:

It was... :( We're still friends (more or less), but she lives in Helsinki, which makes it somewhat difficult.

Long-distance relationships are a pain, but I prefer being in one. My significant other from the Netherlands is coming in a few days, so I'm pretty happy about that. :D

On the other hand, I hate cleaning. This house is filthy, and I'm fixing it up so it'll be presentable for my guest!

I think I wouldn't go for such a relationship again. Not that there's any chance for it to happen anyway, but it really isn't something I can tackle well emotionally. Anyway, have a nice time with your guest!

I retract this statement. I hate being in a long-distance relationship. I wish I could speed up the process and just move to The Netherlands. I was so much happier there. :rainy:

Sympathies on that one. Tried long-distance once (and it wasn't even that long a distance, to be honest) and it wasn't fun. After being married for a few years it does start to acquire a certain appeal, though... :;):

I married after a long distance relationship... true, it's not fun, but worth it. It was only Italy>England, though, so not a big deal... America>Europe is a different kettle of fish... you have my sympathies too!

It also depends a bit on your financial situation and other circumstantial factors. If your finances are severely limited, you can't travel back and forth too easily all the time. I've been through that back then, too, plus visiting only worked one way, which was another complication. This way the trip across the Baltic Sea could turn into quite a challenge. The situation usually is very individual, so it's hard to make generalisations, but on the whole I guess we could say that not everyone is the type for this sort of relationship.
