Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Sure. It's a word that has been misused through ignorance for a very long time, but after Google defined it online as: informal used for emphasis while not being literally true. "I have received literally thousands of letters" other dictionaries followed suit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23729570http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2392586/Oxford-English-Dictionary-admits-used-wrong-sense-word-literally.html.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Thanks! Now I see your point about the word becoming literally (!) useless...

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
I just laughed my arse off reading the certificate I got for my internship. The convention to use such exaggerated standardised formulations is simply ridiculous... Now I can finally start to write my report about the internship, the last thing I need to hand in until my studies are officially over. So that's what I'm doing now!

Yay! On your way to emancipation! I'm currently well browsing the internet and trying to respond to some emails.

We'll see about that, but it's still a good thing, I guess... Packing my bag since I'll be taking the train tomorrow to visit my parents. And freezing: the landlords failed to refill the heating oil in time again, just as every winter!

Just finishing up Thanksgiving. And...a four-day weekend!

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Thanksgiving...sadly, don't get the turkey or anything over here in the UK, but we do get the extra televised triple-header American Football. Result! Chiefs by 14 over the Seahawks in Superbowl 48, that's my prediction...

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
The Steelers certainly won't be there. It's an odd season - I'm hoping the Lions get to the playoffs. Chiefs, huh? Hmm...strange seeing them do so well.
I am baking cookies while waiting for the Penguins hockey game to start.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
I don't expect it to last...out in the first round of the playoffs is our more traditional approach...

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Damn, that sucks big time! Are/were those the only speakers you have?

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
I think you already know the answer. Good news is I can still listen to music through my laptop's speakers. Bad news is they suck. Big time. Anything I put on suddenly sounds like Burzum.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Don't be so sure: my psychic abilities aren't half as good as yours! I for one have three pairs of speakers standing around (huge, age-old speakers for my stereo; old computer speakers in the kitchen - I can plug in my MP3 player when I cook or wash the dishes; and my regular computer speakers). Damn, this made me laugh! At least you haven't lost your humour over it... Although it's actually a very sad thing. Almost all laptop speakers suck, I guess. I hope you have a good pair of headphones at least. There's one good thing about it, though: without speakers, it's easy to make a minute of silence in order to mourn for your lost... speakers.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
I like Burzum too. Anyhow ... The story with my speakers has a happy ending nevertheless. It turns out my computer was muted all this time. I feel incredibly stupid atm. I wish the earth would open and swallow me.

Ah, come on, this kind of shit happens to all of us on occasion. Enjoy the relief and turn the volume up.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
yeah, I've heard that on the radio; well, our century is only 12 years old (each new century beginning after each hundred (00) is completed, contrary to what people are told - there wasn't any year zero, mind you, centuries are calculated from the first day of the first year AD). But, yes, that should be quite a show on the coast.

Re: What are YOU doing right now?
Luckily, the Baltic Coast is generally rather safe, plus I live on high ground, so not to worry... Squalls of up to 130 km/h (or even higher in some regions) are pretty wack, though. What really made me realise that the situation may be serious was when I got an email notification that the entire university is closing down starting with 12 o'clock today. In the five years I've lived here, this has never happened. As far as I'm concerned, we can very well have this kind of storm more often - the cantine was wondrously empty today...
