Post Re: horror movie recommendations

truth or dare is a good pop corn horror in the style of final destination...

bird box did not live up to the hype, but it's good.

hereditary was arty and slow but the ending made it worthwhile.

and I finally watched insidious... meh. I don't like horror with "comic relief". what were they thinking!?

Midsommar was a painful to watch disappointment, esp coming from the guy who made Hereditary :/

Malevolent was poor and meh, but not terribly bad...

I have some indian horror lined up that they told me is good... we'll see. very up for suggestions :)

I liked Midsommar, quirky, hypnotic and original. Some wavering and some actors a bit on the loose, but I like the sense of inescapability, and the underlying message that any group is driven by a certain degree of oppression and about how traditions hinder the intellectual freedom.

But that's become a rule: our taste differs :D

I didn't hear of Malevolent...

Indian Horror...? mmh... Are we talking India or American Indians? Did you see Bone Tomahawk? Pretty interesting horrific western.

thanks for Bone Tomahawk, will give it a go... if it's True Grit meets Silence of the Lambs I'll be happy :D

I do not recommend Malevolent, but as indeed our tastes differ, you might like it more... :)

we are talking India... a friend rcommended those two:

Cheers for these recs; seems interesting.

Bone Tomahawk is obviously a broke flick, but it's nervous. Horror Western is a sub-genre that is not very popular, yet the context is very adapted to the erruption of horror elements... I'd like to see more of that kind. The film is simple, but to the point. Fun to watch.
