 Post-apocalyptic & dystopian movies
Recently, I've got very keen on post-apocalyptic and dystopian themes in literature and movies. So much that I'm having dreams about it ;)
What do you think about them?
Concerning movies, I don't only mean the most known as Mad Max series, Postman, Waterworld or Equlibrium, etc.
Also low-budget movies like: The boy and his dog, Salute of the jugger (great climate!), even Kubrick's 'Dr Strangelove' has something to do with post-apocalyptic theme ;)
Could anyone recommend something interesting?
It can be anything in the climate. Also tv-series or anime.

But do you want post-apocalyptic action movies? Something like I am Legend?
There's The Road coming up. One of the most depressive, beautiful books I've read, completely post-apocalyptic. I have high expectations for it, hope it turns out well.

Action movies may also be good. However, I don't like zombie-themes. ;)
Haven't read the book, but I'll check it out in near future!
@dh:
I've got the film, probably I'll watch it tomorrow.
Cheers!

The Quiet Earth, Akira, 28 Days Later, The Omega Man (original I am Leg-end), Urotsukidoji, The Stand, On the Beach.
Looking forward to The Road too. Apparently you don't get to know why everything is as it is in the film.

 Re: Post-apocalyptic & dystopian movies
Dredd 2012 ( as opposed to the Stallone abortion from the mid 90's ) is set in a post apocalyptic, dystopian world and is very good. Basicly a violent action movie that fans of the 2000 ad comic ( which I have been since I was a kid ) will love and people who don't know the comic would like if they enjoy carnage.
The movie runs on adrenalin and I'd recommend it.

 Re: Post-apocalyptic & dystopian movies
^^ Saw Dredd, but must say I find it rather average ... Not a bad comic book adaption (loved Lena Headey's role), but not really brilliant either.

 Re: Post-apocalyptic & dystopian movies
Great movies have you recommended him, but I fail to see Lynch's Eraserhead - one of the greatest movies in this niche. A lot of excellent literature in this sphere too, but I'd get offtopic

I like Waterworld quite a lot. If you want to know list of all-time great dystopian movies then I think this list sums up pretty much everything about this genre of movies.
