 Antichrist
I saw this film last night and thought it was excellent. Heh, I made a friend come to it who had no idea what it was about and at the end he said he felt quite disturbed and wished I had told him what it was about, hah!
Quite an intriguing film, rich with symbolism and an intense atmosphere filled with dread, beautiful cinematgraphy, amazing performances by Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg and some quite gruesome scenes.
Anyone else seen it?

 Re: Antichrist
To the contrary, I went to the theatre to see it not knowing what it was about and to this day still don't know what it was about.
So tell me, what is it about?

The movie should be made into a doom album. It would fit perfectly.

Movie was very cool and very original.
some people think it a extremely misogynistic movie. I disagree. A simple explanation of the movie's meaning is that the patriarchial society burdens women with feelings of evilness and sin. Also other commentaries on nature.
I'm sure there's a bunch of interpretations you can get from the film though.

yeah, that's what's so good about the film. It's so open to different interpretations. I've watched it a couple of times and interpreted it differently each time. People call it misogynistic because they forget what the film is talking about.

 Re: Antichrist
I liked the first half, it was beautifully shot with a distinct style and all, but the second half ruined it all for me. I simply don't find any aesthetic appeal in such exaggerated scenes, they were just disgusting to me, the whole approach seemed forced and didn't seem to serve any purpose. The extreme escalation seemed to be made an end in itself, or - even worse - be meant as pure provocation; both are tendencies I strongly dislike. I felt that the film didn't take its watchers seriously. In all honesty, I was even angry that I watched it since it seemed like a waste of time (and talent, which Lars von Trier definitely has) afterwards. His next film was so much better!

 Re: Antichrist
It was a crazy movie. My wife and I watched it together. She hated it whereas I enjoyed it. I didn't really understand what it was about, especially the ending. That was just weird.
