Duvel is definately one of my favorites. Belgian ale; quite strong (9%) but refreshing. Gets you hammered! ![]() |

I think I should get my dad one of the 3 litre Chimay Blue bottles for Xmas. He might have a heart attack though. |

I'm fairly young, 17. But I drink enough vodka & whiskey to make my wallet nice and empty. ![]() I want to get into drinking beer, mainly because it's cheaper than what I normally drink and because some people absolutely love it, I want to know what i'm missing out on.. Can you recommend me a good beer to start on? And progress maybe? If that's how it works. Cheap.. and easy to find of course. ![]() (In Australia) |

When I was in Australia, I pretty much stuck to Victoria Bitter. Nothing too fancy but easy to find and pretty cheap. Kinda like the Heineken we have here (which I refuse to drink, btw). I've also had some Tooheys Old, which wasn't too bad either... No idea about Fosters or XXXX |

Oh, I'd say Sibirska Korona (Siberian Crown) is ok to go with a meal, not as a stand-alone drink though. And in any case far better than most of those UK, German or Dutch beers. Haven't tried anything from Baltika so far though. Some of my favourites: Barbar Bush 12° (belgian beer, in spite of the name) Tripel Karmeliet Kwak Stouterik (unfortunately no longer brewed) Guinness (during Summer) Pilsener Urquell (as a light one, to quench my thirst) |

Try Cooper's Sparkling Ale, I loved that, it's Australian but a few English beer shops stock it. |

Yep. I've got a weakness for the Wife Beater too. It makes me play pool like a fucking maniac. |

You do have good taste with regards to Heineken. I haven't been drinking a lot of beer lately. I've been trying to find cheap white beer, but no luck so far, Hoegaarden went for 13 sheqalim or so per bottle in the supermarket, hardly cheaper than in a pub. But I must add that my reference point is the two and a half guilders I used to pay for draught Hoegaarden in the Netherlands (this was seven and more years ago though). |

I don't really experience that, I don't have the patience for pool. Pool to me is taking up time when I could be drinking more or eatting crisps. Stella just makes me even more loud and obnoxious than usual! |
