Post ''Giving Yourself Away''

I'm listening to this album over and over again,I just can't stop it...Everything is present in these songs : hope, sadness, great melodies...

So,what do you think about it?

Sounds bloody great! I expected something good after Reason, so it isn't a very big surprise. But, on the first listen, it sounds quite different, but still good.

I especially like "On the Crossroads of Souls" so far.

In my opinion, it's the best they released so far. It's my favorite doom album of the year so far. It's just beautiful, especially the first 4 songs.

Oi Mike, it's O.T. through and through but we're not repeating what we did on Reason.

Hi, yeah, it isn't Reason II which is maybe a good thing but it is quite good! Different than what I was expecting but in a pleasant way! Great job/kudos to the band on this release!

Cool, and I am liking this new release, especially the first two tracks are current favorites. Great stuff! Kudos to all! And you keep your drummer busy with hands and feet doing double duty on drums/synth eh?! ;-) How are you doing that live? A click track-like recording or do you have someone playing synth/piano for live gigs? Just curious.

The synth-parts are pre-programmed. our drummer just pushes the button to start the song on the synth and he uses a click-track. Works very good!

Ah, I figured as much. I was just busting on ya! Longing For Dawn does the same thing as they don't have a full time keyboardist (Frederic does all that for the songs). Very good release my friend! I love it! One of the best of 2007 IMHO!

I gotta say I LOVE the low end on this one with the heavy low end of the bass and the crunch of the guitars, especially on the opening track when they get boosted a bit! Great stuff and the 2nd track also rocks really hard. I love the bass line in that track! Kudo's to him on it, it just flows so fucking nicely!

Can ya tell I really like this album! Making me want to a) dig up The Pathway/Reason/that disc you sent me oh so long ago with the rough recordings of the demo and promo songs! Got any more goodies for me?! ;-)

No Bram, we can't!

Mike, thanks for the great words. I assume Lawrence reads what's posted on here. If not I'll tell him you dig his bass-lines.
Concerning other goodies. We'll be making some live recordings available for download soon.

Nice man! And no I don't want yer underwear...ewwwwwwwww! LMFAO! but yeah I do love the bass lines on My Charcoal Heart, I was thinking he was doing pentatonic in there, and if so, it just flows so fucking nicely. Very nice work and as I mentioned here the fucking low end with the guitar is just sick on opening track when it kicks in fuller! Good shit man! Very impressive production! Now if the re-release of Reason is cleaned up (and The Pathway would do justice too if it was cleaned up a tad more like GYA). Just my opinion, I still love them all and have started spinning them in the car since I got the new one to refresh my memory of them! I'd just love it if you ever got over to this side of the pond up our neck of the woods to see/play with you guys. Providing I am still with Shroud of Bereavement at that time. Hell, coming up on 4 yrs with the band now...where did the time go!

There's quite some people who'd like to see us perform in the States. I guess it's about time someone with a fat wallet steps up.

I suppose that reducing the beer consumption to 50% would save you enough money for a US-tour within half a year... :p

Anyway, I listened to the album twice now and I like it. I enjoy it more than the first two albums, but it doesn't reach the level of perfection shown on "Reason" for me; even though I quite enjoy the new direction as such, the arrangements just don't seem to flow as naturally everywhere and the songs feel less "deep". But on the other hand, "Reason" set a standard that is hard to top off, so all of this sounds more negative than it's actually meant - there are still very moving moments on the album. One thing I'd have to mention though is that it's a little too synth-dominated for my taste, but that's just my subjective perception. Up to now, "On The Crossroad Of Souls" is my favourite track with a nice and true statement in the lyrics; the moment when the clean singing appears really gives me the creeps. Besides, the chorus of "Your Eyes" is great.
