Post Bretton Kreye Illustrator (Updated! Official site now up!)

Update: Finally got my new website up check it out please! I am very interested to know what you guys think! http://brettonkreye.com

Hey guys!

So this is my first post on here, I am a metal/punk enthusiast with a strong inclination towards doom metal! I want to be involved in the community and am looking to do commission work. Illustrating/designing album covers, poster, flyers etc. for metal or punk bands is something I really want to do!

My work can be viewed at http://brettonkreye.com/. Please feel free to pm me with any questions or e-mail me (e-mail address is on my website and I hope to get to do some great artwork in the name of doom metal soon!

Thanks for looking and I welcome any sort of comments or feedback!

Post Re: Bretton Kreye Illustrator (an introduction!)

Hope you don't take offense to me saying this, but the quality of your stuff is all over the map. Some stuff is really good, and some of it isn't so great. It's almost like a collection of lots of people's work instead of just one guy. I thought the stuff like Skunk Ape was more in tune with the doom scene than some of the other stuff. Maybe you should make a little portfolio of recent stuff that's genre specific so the prospective client can get a better idea of what you have to offer.

Hope that wasn't too scathing, because you clearly have talent, it just seems like you need to revamp your presentation or marketing approach to me.

Thanks Natas Corpsegrinder! I don't take offense at all, and I can take criticism. I am working on getting a nice site together with my own domain name, for now all I have is this blog which is mostly student work.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the advice!

I can say I liked some of the Leviathan pieces, although I don't know that much about this kind of illustration drawings. Otherwise generally agreed with Mr. Corpsegrinder.

Good stuff over all. I liked the early medieval influence. :)

The skating bats really made me laugh! :;): But seriously, I would prefer almost any of these illustrations (some exceptions aside, which I don't find that convincing) over the ever-same kind of photoshop aesthetics that have been flooding the entire world of dark music for at least a decade now. This is still handmade art, which I appreciate a lot. I think it has a much stronger effect and appeal. I wish you all the best and hope you'll find your place with what you're doing.
